Yale Cancer Center has a long-standing reputation for pioneering cancer treatment and delivering exceptional patient care. Designated as a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) since 1974, it is among just 57 centers in the United States to hold this distinction and the only one in Connecticut.

Led by Eric Winer, MD, director of Yale Cancer Center and president and physician-in-chief of Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale Cancer Center brings together nationally and internationally respected scientists and physicians from Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Health to advance cancer research, education, and patient care.
The scientists, physicians, nurses, trainees, and staff at Yale Cancer Center are recognized leaders in cancer care and scientific discovery. Cancer treatment and care for patients and families is provided through specialized multidisciplinary teams at Smilow Cancer Hospital’s 16 locations in Connecticut and Rhode Island, where specialists collaborate to ensure every aspect of each patient’s care is carefully coordinated. Smilow Cancer Hospital is accredited by the Commission on Cancer, a quality program of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).
