Dr. Austin Chiang is an interventional gastroenterologist and inaugural Chief Medical Officer of Medtronic’s Endoscopy business, where he helps shape product strategy, clinical innovation, evidence generation, and commercial enablement across the GI portfolio. He also practices as an Associate Professor of Medicine in Philadelphia.
Dr. Chiang earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his MD from Columbia University, completed Internal Medicine training at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and specialized in gastroenterology and bariatric endoscopy at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He earned an MPH from Harvard and completed advanced endoscopy training at Jefferson Health.
A leading advocate for patient education, Dr. Chiang reaches more than 700,000 followers and has generated over 180 million social media views. He has spoken at SXSW and Aspen Ideas: Health, serves on the YouTube Health Advisory Board, and authored Gut: An Owner’s Guide (DK/Penguin Random House), published in 2024.
